योग

Yogas

A yoga is a combination of grahas that the classical texts describe as shaping a life in a particular way. Some are celebrated, some are counted as challenging.

No yoga stands alone. Its strength depends on the dignity of the grahas involved, the houses they rule, and the dashas that bring them to life. Read them as tendencies, never as verdicts.

Gajakesari गजकेसरी

Guru in a kendra (1st, 4th, 7th or 10th) from the Moon.

Wisdom joined to feeling: respect, sound judgement and the ability to recover from setbacks.

Budhaditya बुधादित्य

Surya and Budha in the same sign.

A bright, articulate intelligence. Very common, since Budha is never far from the Sun.

Ruchaka रुचक

Mangala in its own or exalted sign, in a kendra from the lagna.

One of the five Pancha Mahapurusha yogas: courage, vigour and leadership in action.

Bhadra भद्र

Budha in its own or exalted sign, in a kendra.

Eloquence, learning and skill with words, numbers and trade.

Hamsa हंस

Guru in its own or exalted sign, in a kendra.

Goodness, wisdom and a natural respect for dharma and teachers.

Malavya मालव्य

Shukra in its own or exalted sign, in a kendra.

Grace, refinement, artistic gifts and a love of beauty and comfort.

Shasha शश

Shani in its own or exalted sign, in a kendra.

Endurance, organisation and authority that grows steadily with time.

Raja yoga राजयोग

The lord of a kendra joined with, or exchanging signs with, the lord of a trikona.

Effort meeting grace — rise in status and responsibility, especially in the dashas of the grahas involved.

Dhana yoga धनयोग

Connections between the lords of the 2nd, 5th, 9th and 11th houses.

Capacity for wealth and earning, shown most in the related dashas.

Neecha Bhanga नीचभंग

A debilitated graha whose weakness is cancelled — for example when the lord of its sign is in a kendra.

Difficulty turned to strength: what begins low can rise well.

Manglik मांगलिक

Mangala in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house from the lagna, Moon or Venus.

Not a curse. About half of all charts show it in some form; it speaks of strong energy in partnership and is weighed against the partner’s chart in Milan.

Kal Sarp कालसर्प

All seven grahas on one side of the Rahu–Ketu axis.

Not named in the oldest classical texts. Read it as intensity and focus around the houses Rahu and Ketu occupy, never as a fixed misfortune.
